There are green changes to make around the home that some may not have considered, it has been advised.
Some people have not considered the many simple ways to make changes to their lives in a bid to become greener, one expert has advised. Although opting for an energy-efficient new washing machine or tumble dryer could be one such move, Erin Wisdom of the St Joe News website offers a number of other suggestions to help power an eco-friendly initiative.
Opting for compact fluorescent bulbs is one tip, as these use around 75 per cent less electricity than regular ones and last up to ten times longer. Repairing leaky pipes, being careful about how you fill your fridge-freezer and reusing plastic packaging are just some of the other things Ms Wisdom believes may not have crossed people's minds. For those who do want to trade in their old inefficient tumble dryer for a newer, more frugal model, Indesit's range could be of interest. The IS60 and IS70 series of tumble dryers are rated C for energy efficiency and are capable of holding a six and seven kg load respectively.
So which other appliances out there are the most energy efficient?
LG currently have two super energy efficient models available with an A++ rating the F1406TDSP and the F1406TDSP6 models. Both these models are so efficient because they use steam during the wash meaning less water is used and the results are outstanding. Steam can really clean tough stains and is a great new technology which is proving to be a really popular choice.
There are also super efficient fridge freezers available, the Bosch KGV36X10GB is a great choice for people who are looking to be greener. This model is rated A++ for energy efficiency and has a brilliant capacity for both fresh and frozen foods. 226 litres can be stored in the fridge and 100 litres can be stored in the freezer.
The Bosch SMS50E12GB dishwasher is rated AAA for energy, wash and drying performance and contains a half load function which is really efficient and it prevents you having to run a full dishwasher cycle when you have less dirty pots, pans and tableware inside the appliance.
Having a green kitchen is a great way of being more energy efficient, if buying new kitchen appliances be sure to see which energy ratings are available, the most efficient ratings are not only kinder to the environment but they will help you to save money off your energy bills. One appliance can really make a difference - just imagine if all of your kitchen appliances were rated A or above! So whether you want a tumble dryer, fridge freezer, washing machine or dishwasher there is an energy efficient appliance for you which will help with the everyday running of your home.
