The generations of children these days are exposed to everything new on the planet, such as video games, music players and especially, television shows. Channels and programs always puts the sign "PARENTAL GUIDANCE" whenever their show has violence in it and other scenes that are not appropriate for young children. Parents should take this reminder seriously, as children these days depend on what they saw on the television and what they learned from adults. With thousands of channels, programs and educational shows, kids have different variety of entertainment in their hands. Kids below the age of eight spends more time in front of the television than reading books; they're very hooked with cartoons, animes, and educational programs. Serious drama series bores them, but some also find it interesting.

Sometimes, children can't avoid if they pass on a channel that has shows they shouldn't be watching them, so parents should always spend time with their kid while watching t.v. If ever they're watching children shows on Disney, mom and dad should be there to explain what's happening and if the child asked a question on something they didn't understand. If the family's watching a movie and there's a kissing scene, the parents should never fail to remind that kissing are for adults only, and they shouldn't be doing it with their fellow playmates. Parents might think this is useless, but whatever they tell to their children will definitely leave a mark on their minds. It might not show on the present, but they'll probably remember what you told them when their minds passed on it.

Parents also shouldn't avoid educational shows that lectures or features sensitive topics such as reproductive organs, premarital sex or any related things. As long as their guiding their kids, the children would understand. Sometimes, early explanation about this stuffs helps on avoiding it in the future, whether explaining about elisa kits or whatever topic shown on the television, it's best if the parents had something to say about it. Warn them or scare them lightly on the results if they imitate what they saw on television, but never over-do it. Discretion, no doubt, is advisable but knowledge will help avoid crucial difficulties on the family.

As for the parents, never be afraid that your child is watching CSI: Miami or 90210 on t.v. when he/she's only five or six years old. As long as you're guiding them and telling those stuffs they need not to copy, they're fine and good to go. If they asked you about elisa test kits or about kissing, explain the truth and don't use other terms to cover up the sensitivity of the topic. Go straight to the point, your children will understand it. Though some professionals advices that children shouldn't be over-exposed to television shows, it's all up to their surrounding whether it'll be a good thing or not. Mainly a parent's responsibility, don't hold back your kids to what interests them. Good things turns bad if not guided, let your children have fun on what they want to do. It's all in your guiding hand to protect them from any harm there is.
